Alix and Ben got married on a gorgeous summer day at A Private Estate in Germantown, NY.

A few highlights:

  • Alix is an equine therapist, so they had an adorable mini horse walk down the aisle

  • A butterfly release during the ceremony in memory of lost loved ones
  • A bluegrass band played during cocktail hour

Congratulations Alix & Ben!

Megan & Bryan {5.16.16}

Megan and Bryan got married on a beautiful May day at the Elm Rock Inn, in Stone Ridge, NY. With wonderful food, an incredible photographer (his blog post here), gorgeous flowers, and an amazing DJ, (not to mention the delicious gluten-free cupcakes for dessert!), we don’t think the day could have been any more perfect!

Megan and Bryan incorporated so many fun details into their special day. We loved that they used a framed “theater poster” of the two of them as their guestbook for friends and family to sign (they met on the set of a play). There was also a “message in a bottle” station where guests could leave funny notes or helpful advice for Megan and Bryan to open and read on their first anniversary. The couple also took the time to hand-paint all of the mason jars that were used in their centerpieces, and they looked fantastic!

Some other fun details:

  • Burlap pinwheels lining the aisle (also made by Megan)
  • A remembrance table in memory of people very close to the couples hearts
  • Kazoos for after the ceremony
  • An after-party bonfire, complete with smores!

It was a very special day for a very special couple; Congratulations Megan and Bryan!

Emily & Scott {7.11.15}

Emily and Scott got married at a beautiful house in Rhinebeck, NY on a perfect day in July. We loved their idea to create a photo collage that they displayed during cocktail hour! They also provided guests with an assortment of sunglasses to wear, and used window panes in place of escort cards; what fun touches!

Fall Favor Ideas

I am a firm believer in providing your guests with a little favor or gift. After all, they did take off the weekend to travel and come be a part of your big day, but they also of course brought a present; and even may have attended the bridal shower, engagement parties and bachlorette party. My feeling though is give them something they can enjoy or use in the future.

There is of course the common Jordan almond pack or a trinket with your names and dates on them, but what about thinking out of the box? Who eats Jordan almonds anyways?

Everyone loves chocolate what about a personalized candy bar with a cute saying on it?  They can even enjoy it on the way back to the hotel.

Smore kits and hot cider kits are great for a cold winter night at home.

We all remember caramel apples from when we were kids, but when was the last time you had one? These also represent the Hudson Valley area and gives your guests a little taste of the region.

You can still add your names and date of your wedding to this little trinket but your guests can use this cool book mark and remember the great time they had at your wedding.

Honey and maple syrup are a great gift to take home that your guests can always use. Another great gift from the Hudson Valley region!

Pumpkins can always be used to decorate for the fall. And who doesn’t love a pumpkin!

Apple cider donuts are a classic fall treat. Why not create a dessert buffet with to go boxes for guests to take some treats home with them? I know I’m stuffed after a wedding and would love a treat for the car ride home or even the next day.

A great new trend right now Cake Pops! You can have them designed any way you want. I love these acorn pops for guests to walk around and enjoy or even take them for the road.

I think as a rule of thumb give your guests a gift they can either enjoy, like a treat, or something they can use!

Happy Planning

A Private Estate

October 4, 2014

Krissy and John were married on a rainy day in the Hudson valley. But, they didn’t let the weather get them down. She brought cute rain boots, handed out umbrellas, and partied all night. This crowd danced the night away!

The smiles never stopped as Krissy and John were married under a tent while over looking an amazing view of the Hudson River.

Krissy and John put some much thought and hard work into all the little details of their wedding. The life size jenga was a huge hit. Our favorite was the escort stand/guest book where guests could sign a postcard and hang it up for the couple.

7 Reasons to hire a wedding planner? Do I really need one?

I’m going to admit I’m a little bias in writing this blog post, because of course, I’m a wedding planner. But, I’ve also been on the other side of friends and families weddings and have seen it all go wrong when they don’t have someone trusted in their corner. So lets get right down to it. Why do you need a wedding planner?

1. Savings, savings, savings

Not only will a wedding planner help you save money, but we will also save you something so much more valuable. Your time. An average wedding takes between 200-400 hours to plan. That’s a lot of time, so why reinvent the wheel. We have done this hundreds of times. We have it down to a science. Of course, every wedding is unique and the couple’s visions are all different and that means the world to us (otherwise our job would be very boring). The modern couple is extremely busy. We are here to take some of that stress away; and do the running around for you. Now saving money! Everyone’s favorite part. I know with my company we have special deals worked out in advance with vendors that will give a discount to couples just from my referral. Pretty cool right. Your saving money right there. Second we have a full boutique with tons of items that you can use and bigger items that are available to rent. In the end, couples usually make up my cost and so much more by just hiring us and utilizing everything we have to offer.

2. Letting out your wedding energy

We eat, sleep, and breath weddings. We love it. It’s our passion and luckily enough our careers. We are here to listen to your ideas, to your venting, and along the way become your friend. I know for a fact that my boyfriend is sick of listening to me talk about weddings. Let’s face it men can only hear about weddings for so long, that is why we are here.

3. We are here to make your dreams a reality and offer advice.

We know the latest trends and the etiquette behind almost every type of wedding and tradition. We also have learned throughout the years what is actually feasible and what only looks good on pinterest. We are hear to make your vision come to life but, we will also let you know if something just will not work.

4. Family and Friends are not a substitute for a wedding planner.

Please, don’t get me wrong. Friends and family are such an amazing and important part to your wedding day. But, they should be bearing witness to the exchange of love taking place and everyone coming together, not if the tables are set correctly or if the DJ arrived on time. Like I said early we have done this before we know how to divert a mishap and fix everything before you notice; a friend or family member does not have this knowledge or connections in the business. This brings me to my next point.

5. Less Stress More Fun

Let us handle the set up of all your personal items that make your wedding unique. The last thing you want to be doing on your wedding day is tying 150 sashes to the backs of chairs. That’s our job. What happens if a caterer forgets to order an oven? (It’s happened to us before) Is that something you want to deal with or would even know what to do? We are professionals we handle that stuff. Most of the time, almost 99.9% of the time you have no idea anything is going on. Go enjoy your day, have fun; leave the stressful stuff to us.

6. We are with you from ceremony rehearsal to cleaning up your event.

We walk you and your wedding party and families through the ceremony rehearsal, are there the next day setting up, making sure your vision is carried out and then we clean everything up for you.

Ok, one more reasons. And, I think it is the most important one of all.

7. Piece of Mind

We are here for you. We will always have your best interest in mind. We are not best friends with the florist and are not trying to get you to spend more money with a certain vendor because we get a kick back. We are here to support you in the planning process and your big day. Let us be there to for you.
