Megan & Bryan {5.16.16}

Megan and Bryan got married on a beautiful May day at the Elm Rock Inn, in Stone Ridge, NY. With wonderful food, an incredible photographer (his blog post here), gorgeous flowers, and an amazing DJ, (not to mention the delicious gluten-free cupcakes for dessert!), we don’t think the day could have been any more perfect!

Megan and Bryan incorporated so many fun details into their special day. We loved that they used a framed “theater poster” of the two of them as their guestbook for friends and family to sign (they met on the set of a play). There was also a “message in a bottle” station where guests could leave funny notes or helpful advice for Megan and Bryan to open and read on their first anniversary. The couple also took the time to hand-paint all of the mason jars that were used in their centerpieces, and they looked fantastic!

Some other fun details:

  • Burlap pinwheels lining the aisle (also made by Megan)
  • A remembrance table in memory of people very close to the couples hearts
  • Kazoos for after the ceremony
  • An after-party bonfire, complete with smores!

It was a very special day for a very special couple; Congratulations Megan and Bryan!

A Private Estate

October 4, 2014

Krissy and John were married on a rainy day in the Hudson valley. But, they didn’t let the weather get them down. She brought cute rain boots, handed out umbrellas, and partied all night. This crowd danced the night away!

Krissy and John

The smiles never stopped as Krissy and John were married under a tent while over looking an amazing view of the Hudson River.

Krissy and John1

Krissy and John put some much thought and hard work into all the little details of their wedding. The life size jenga was a huge hit. Our favorite was the escort stand/guest book where guests could sign a postcard and hang it up for the couple.

Ceremony Traditions Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of wedding ceremony traditions. The most important part of your wedding ceremony is to make it your own and to express you and your fiances love for each other and your families.

Medallion

The medallion presentation is a tradition that incorporates children from previous marriages. The new step parent presents a medallion, pendent, or piece of jewelry to the child or children; that will serve as a reminder to the commitment to each member of the newly bonded family.

ceremony 6

The wedding wine box ceremony is a newer tradition. The Bride and Groom write love letters to each other. They may include things such as why they fell in love, how you’ve grown as a couple, or what makes you happy together. The idea during the ceremony is to put these letters in a wine box with a bottle of good wine and nail the box closed. The box should be displayed in their home, so every time they walk by they can remember the love they have for each other. The box can only be opened on two occasions.

1. When the couple feels like they are in trouble and nothing can save their marriage they can open the box have a glass of wine and read the letters they wrote to each other, in hopes that it can rekindle some romance.

2. On their 10th anniversary, they can enjoy a glass of wine and remember the younger days.

Coins

13 Gold Coins is a Hispanic tradition. The groom would give the bride in an ornate box or tray 13 gold coins to symbolize the willingness to support her. The bride accepts this gift to symbolize the trust and confidence of unconditional love and dedication. The coins are then meant to become a family heirloom that the children can use for their weddings. These coins were originally the dowery the groom paid to the family. The 13 coins can also symbolize Christ and his apostles.
